What is the Learning Platform?
The Learning Platform is a complete Learning Management System (LMS) that allows you to browse, enroll in, and complete courses. Each course contains multiple lessons, typically video-based, that guide you through a specific topic or skill. Progress tracking helps you pick up where you left off.
Browsing Courses
Accessing the Learning Platform
Click on Learning or Courses in the main navigation. You'll see:
- A catalog of all available courses
- Course cards showing title, description, and enrollment status
- Category filters to browse specific topics
- A search bar to find courses by name or keyword
Understanding Course Cards
Each course displays:
- Course Title - The name of the course
- Description - What you'll learn
- Category - The topic area (e.g., Business, Technology, Creative Arts)
- Lesson Count - How many lessons are in the course
- Enrollment Status - Whether you're enrolled or not
Filtering by Category
Use the category dropdown or sidebar to filter courses by topic:
- Select a category from the filter
- Only courses in that category will display
- Clear the filter to see all courses again
Searching for Courses
Find specific courses using the search bar:
- Type course names, keywords, or topics
- Results update as you type
- Search looks through course titles and descriptions
Enrolling in Courses
How to Enroll
- Browse or search for a course you're interested in
- Click on the course card to view details
- Click the "Enroll in Course" button
- You're now enrolled and can start learning!
Free Enrollment
Currently, all courses are free to enroll in. Simply click the enroll button and you'll have immediate access to all lessons.
Viewing Your Enrolled Courses
Once enrolled, you can:
- See the course marked as "Enrolled" in the course catalog
- Access a list of just your enrolled courses (if available)
- Start watching lessons immediately
- Track your progress through the course
Taking Lessons
Accessing Lessons
- Open an enrolled course
- You'll see a list of all lessons in the course
- Lessons are typically ordered sequentially
- Click on any lesson to start watching
Lesson Content
Each lesson typically includes:
- Lesson Title - What this lesson covers
- Video Content - Either uploaded video files or external video URLs
- Description - Overview of what you'll learn
- Completion Status - Whether you've finished the lesson
Watching Videos
Lessons support two types of videos:
- Uploaded Videos - Videos stored directly on the platform
- External Videos - Videos hosted on platforms like YouTube or Vimeo
The video player includes standard controls:
- Play/pause
- Volume control
- Fullscreen mode
- Progress scrubbing
- Playback speed (if available)
Marking Lessons Complete
After finishing a lesson, mark it as complete:
- Click the "Mark as Complete" button below the video
- The lesson shows as completed with a checkmark
- Your course progress updates automatically
You can also unmark a lesson if you want to review it again.
Tracking Your Progress
Course Progress
The platform automatically tracks your progress through each course:
- See how many lessons you've completed
- View the percentage of the course finished
- Progress bar shows visual completion status
- Resume from where you left off
Completed Lessons
Lessons you've marked complete will show:
- A checkmark or "Completed" badge
- Different visual styling (e.g., grayed out or highlighted)
- The date you completed them (if displayed)
Next Lesson Suggestions
The platform may highlight the next logical lesson to take based on your progress, making it easy to continue your learning journey.
Managing Your Enrollment
Unenrolling from a Course
If you no longer want to take a course:
- Open the course page
- Click the "Unenroll" button
- Confirm you want to unenroll
Note: Unenrolling will remove your progress tracking. If you re-enroll later, you may need to start over.
Resetting Progress
Want to start a course fresh? You can reset your progress:
- Open the enrolled course
- Look for the "Reset Progress" option
- Confirm the reset
- All lessons will be marked as incomplete
This is useful if you want to retake a course or refresh your knowledge.
Course Administration (Admin/Owner Only)
If you have admin or owner permissions, you can create and manage courses for your account.
Creating Courses
- Go to the account admin section or course management area
- Click "New Course"
- Fill in the course details:
- Course title
- Description
- Category
- Any additional settings
- Click "Create Course"
Creating Lessons
After creating a course, add lessons to it:
- Open the course in the admin area
- Click "New Lesson"
- Enter lesson details:
- Lesson title
- Description
- Video upload or external URL
- Lesson order/position
- Save the lesson
Video Options
When adding videos to lessons, you have two options:
- Upload Video - Upload a video file directly (MP4, MOV, etc.)
- External URL - Paste a link to a YouTube, Vimeo, or other video hosting service
Organizing Lessons
Arrange lessons in the desired order:
- Use drag-and-drop (if available)
- Or manually set the position/order number
- Lessons typically display in sequential order
Editing Courses and Lessons
Update course or lesson content anytime:
- Open the course/lesson in the admin area
- Click "Edit"
- Make your changes
- Save the updates
Changes take effect immediately for all enrolled students.
Deleting Courses and Lessons
Remove courses or lessons that are no longer needed:
- Open the course/lesson in the admin area
- Click "Delete"
- Confirm the deletion
Warning: Deleting a course removes all its lessons and student enrollment data. This cannot be undone.

Understanding Categories
Categories help organize courses by topic area. Common categories might include:
- Business & Finance
- Technology & Programming
- Creative Arts & Design
- Health & Wellness
- Personal Development
Managing Categories (Admin Only)
Admins can create and manage course categories:
- Go to the account admin section
- Navigate to Categories
- Create, edit, or delete categories as needed
- Assign categories to courses when creating or editing them

For Learners
- Complete lessons in the recommended order
- Mark lessons as complete to track your progress
- Take notes while watching videos
- Revisit lessons if needed - you can rewatch anytime
- Enroll in multiple courses to diversify your learning
For Course Creators
- Organize lessons in a logical, progressive order
- Keep lesson videos focused and concise (10-20 minutes ideal)
- Write clear, descriptive lesson titles
- Add detailed course descriptions so learners know what to expect
- Use appropriate categories to help learners find your courses
- Test video playback before publishing lessons
- Update content regularly to keep it current

The learning platform works great on mobile devices:
- Responsive design adapts to smartphones and tablets
- Video players are touch-friendly
- Progress syncs across all devices

Troubleshooting
Video Won't Play?
Try these steps:
- Check your internet connection
- Refresh the page
- Try a different browser
- For external videos, make sure the URL is still valid
- Contact support if the problem persists
Progress Not Saving?
Ensure that:
- You're logged in
- You clicked "Mark as Complete"
- You have a stable internet connection
- Try refreshing and marking complete again
Can't Find a Course?
- Use the search function to find it by name
- Check category filters aren't hiding it
- Make sure you're in the correct account
- The course may have been deleted by an admin
Enrollment Issues?
- Make sure you're logged in
- Check that you're a member of the account offering the course
- Refresh the page and try enrolling again
- Contact your account admin if problems persist
Tips for Successful Learning
- Set aside dedicated time for learning each day or week
- Take notes and apply what you learn
- Don't rush - take time to absorb each lesson
- Revisit difficult lessons as needed
- Share your learning with others in community spaces or channels
